Outreach to the CBD of Melbourne is a calling we share with several other churches and/or agencies, including Marketplace Connections, run by Peter Kentley.

We have historical ties with the Church of Scotland, though the PCV has been independent of the 'mother church' since 1856. Despite this independance, most senior ministers of Scots' Church, including our present one, have been trained and ordained in the Church of Scotland before being called to serve in Melbourne.
Although there are no formal ties as such, the Presbyterian Church in America is perhaps the closest of all Presbyterian churches around the world to the PCV in theology and practice, and there has been significant cross fertilisation of personnel and teaching between the Presbyterian Theological College in Melbourne and the Reformed Theological Seminary which trains PCA ministers. Our present senior minister is studying for a Doctor of Ministry degree through RTS Jackson.
The 'Subordinate Standard' of the PCV and most other Presbyterian or Reformed churches around the world is the Westminster Confession of Faith, which can be found together with a range of other important documents at www.reformed.org.
