The Presbyterian and Scots’ Joint Mission (Flemington Mission) exists to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ and to be a light to the world by promoting the physical, moral and spiritual wellbeing of all people. There are many who come through our doors from all different backgrounds and lifestyles. Regardless of where they are at, we as a Christian Mission are able to be a light to them through our good works. We show the love of Christ through our actions and by building up relationships with them. We provide a community where they can feel safe. Our prayer is that through our conversations, giving and gospel presentations, that they can come to a saving faith in Jesus Christ.
End of Year Mission Update
2020 has been a challenging but also exciting year. God has been good in providing for us as a mission and we have been able to continue to show love and grace to the unprivileged in a practical way.
Our final mission day for the year will be on the 15th of December. We will be having a Christmas BBQ on that day. Feel free to join us as we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ and give thanks to God for 2020. Perishable and financial donations are welcomed. Please contact our Missioner.
We will reopen our doors on the 2nd of February 2021. God bless you all. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
The mission is still open for service during this trying time. By God's grace we are now able to open every week for fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as providing other goodies that people need. We continue to provide prescription subsidies and financial support for educational needs. We have seen an increase in new faces. We do pray that they may come to a saving faith in Jesus Christ.
We now get support from the FoodBank which provides for many of the items we need, albeit still with a low cost. However, there are still a few items which are essential and we do not get often. These include but not limited to Long life milk, Toilet Paper
If you do plan to donate some essential items, these would be greatly appreciated!
We are starting to think about Christmas and what we can do to encourage the community and to bring some Christmas cheer. If you would like to donate some Christmas themed goods or small christmas presents that would be great. Please contact us so we can make an arrangement.
Mission Hall Update
The Mission Hall has had to make substantial upgrades. In the process of investigating the potential upgrades for the mission hall kitchen, the floor was found to be increasingly unstable and very dangerous with the weight of the shelves. There was no alternative but to remove the floor and check the supports. These have been eaten away by termites and were about to collapse. The sink had also rusted. Donations for the extensive repairs, ongoing maintenance and the need to further protect against any future infestations in the mission hall would be greatly appreciated.
What We Do
We provide food parcels, fresh fruit and vegetables, prescription subsidies and financial support for educational needs. We are open to help in other ways if we are able to. We provide spiritual support through pastoral care and a chapel service on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month at 9:30am in the chapel.
