Flemington Mission

26 NORWOOD ST FLEMINGTON 3031

For the last 140 years the Presbyterian & Scots’ Church Joint Mission has operated where there is need. Through events like the Great Depression and the recent pandemic and lockdowns, the Mission has adapted and worked towards meeting the needs of Melbourne’s most vulnerable.

Based at St Stephen’s Church Flemington (our branch church) since the late 1990s, our work is all about community caring for one another, sharing food, stories, happy times, problems, and difficulties. We do it, because we’re motivated by the love of Jesus.

WHAT WE DO

Practical support: Generous, healthy, fresh groceries on a weekly basis

  • Food parcels are tailored to cultural and other requirements
  • Toiletries
  • Medical prescription subsidies
  • Educational subsidies

Emotional Support: Belonging to a stable community is the backbone of emotional wellbeing. Many of our community have belonged together for many years. Others just need a friendly ‘leg up’ into self-sufficiency in a wider community.

Connecting services:

  • We are partners with Foodbank Victoria who provide the bulk of our food.
  • Orange Sky Laundry provides a free, weekly washing service on-site.
  • Connectivity with other local community services also broadens our scope in meeting needs.

Many of our community, including those of different faiths, attend our regular chapel services.
